ORDER OF THE PEOPLE'S ARMY
(Orden Narodna Armija)
Instituted December 29, 1951 as a military award for partisans and others who fought the fascists during W.W. II with exceptional zeal. Comes in three classes: Laurel Wreath, Gold Star, and Silver Star.

Fig. 1353 (Star) Order of the People’s Army (Second Class)
STAR: Highly stylized five pointed star with rays in the shape of swallow's tails and a knight's sword, hilt at base. Center medallion is silver and portrays a Yugoslav soldier carrying a rifle with the figure of a man holding a sledge hammer and another holding a spade directly behind him. Surrounding this medallion on a white enamel band is a gold inscription in Yugoslavian: JUGOSLOVENSKA NARODNA ARMIJA ODBRANA OTADZBINE. (Yugoslav People's Army, Defense of the Country). Border and inscription are encircled by a green enamel laurel wreath. The Second Class is identical, except for omission of the laurel wreath, and the white enamel border is wider. The Third Class is identical to the Second Class, except that the five-pointed star is of silver.
RIBBON: (First Class): White moiré with wide red center. (Second Class): White moiré with two red vertical stripes at center. (Third Class): White moiré with three red vertical stripes at center.
